Harcsa Veronika-Gyémánt Bálint Duo (HUN)
Veronika and Bálint both studied and met at the Jazz Department of the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. They continued their musical studies on separate ways, in Bruxelles and in Oslo, but they ended up as each other’s most important professional collaborators. So far they have worked together on 9 albums, and had countless performances in festivals and clubs in 25 countries around the world. In recent years, the duo has become their main act. Together they have worked out how to achieve the fullest sound with only a guitar and voice, and with their songs carrying a sense of liberation, depth, personal inspiration and humor. Their music is a unique crossover of contemporary jazz and improvisational pop.
Previously, Veronika also cooperated in other jazz acts, and she is often invited to participate in renowned projects and has worked together with Erik Truffaz, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Enrico Pieranunzi, Kris Defoort, Nicola Conte, Concerto Budapest and many others. She has recently been involved in classical music projects, and she premiered in the leading role of Éléonore in Bohuslav Martinu’s dadaist opera Les Larmes du Couteau at the Martinu Festival in Basel, directed by the Academy Award winner director Jiří Menzel. She has affiliations to contemporary dance projects, theatre plays and films.
