Daahoud Salim Quintet (ESP)
The quintet of the Spanish pianist Daahoud Salim was founded in Amsterdam in 2015. Since then, the band has played at some of the most important stages and festivals in Europe, specially in Spain and The Netherlands. In 2016 the Daahoud Salim Quintet released two albums, the second from its live performance during the 40th Getxo Jazz Festival, where Daahoud was awarded ‘Best soloist’ and ‘Best Band’. In 2017 the quintet won the B-Jazz International Contest as well as the Sabam for Culture Prize. Daahoud Salim is a classical trained pianist, who also studied jazz in The Netherlands. The repertoire is composed by Daahoud and eventually by Daahoud’s father, Abdu Salim, a jazz saxophone player and composer from Texas, who has been a great source of inspiration for the band. Line-up: Daahoud Salim (piano) / Bruno Calvo (trumpet) / Pablo Martinez (trombone) / Hendrik Müller (double bass) / Sun-Mi Hong (drums).
