Tijn Wybenga was commissioned by Bimhuis to compose a piece for their New Creators Programme. Over the course of two years, he explored, researched and composed, eager to catch that new sound and show it around the city. Inspired by Amsterdam and its vibrant pop and jazz scenes, he recorded artists such as Reinier Baas, Ben van Gelder and Joris Roelofs and fabricated new grooves from their samples. Crafting his puzzle, sharpening his chops, he built new, layered compositions for the Amsterdam jazz scene. A synthetic sound, the likes of Bitches Brew, Zappa and J Dilla, brought Wybenga to create his album Brainteaser.
Five compositions, performed by AM.OK (Amsterdam Modern Orchestra) featuring rising stars such as Teis Semey and Jamie Peet, as well as established names such as Stefan Lievestro.
