Italian-born Amsterdam-based saxophonist Nicolo Ricci has been taking Dutch stages by storm with his exquisite sound, best described as progressive postbop, bordering freejazz.
For his brand new quartet, he selected three outstanding players including lauded drummer Sun-Mi Hong.
The name of his new project, Ambergris, refers to sperm whales and their unique production of ambrein, the key ingredient to the exquisite perfume by the same name.
