If there was an award for honoring the ‘World’ in ‘Amersfoort World Jazz Festival’, this duo would win it. Sarod player Pritam Ghoshal, like his pianist counterpart Sebastiaan van Bavel, was born into a musical family and started studying his instrument at a young age. First under Shri Pranab Naha, then with visionary maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Ghoshal developed into a dynamic musician, actively involved in many ensembles, meanwhile composing and educating the world about Indian classical music. His modern approach to this cultural heritage garnered him much success in his homeland, but as time went on, the rest of the world followed suit.
At Amersfoort World Jazz Festival, Ghoshal and Van Bavel present Monsoon Raga Jazz, a concept designed by World Jazz Network-partner Mahesh Babu, director of Banyan Tree Events, India.
