If you’re looking for the next big thing on the Dutch scene, it’s young Brazilian jazz saxophonist Lucas Figueiredo Santana. His refined sound, spectacular performance and promising releases have made him into a very welcome guest at Dutch Concert Big Band, Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Metropole Orchestra, CvA Bigband, New Cool Collective Big Band and many more.
He won the Downbeat Student Award in 2021, the Keep an Eye Award in 2020, the Jazz Contest Bucharest in 2017, a Latin Grammy in 2016.. We don’t know how many other arguments you need, but fortunately, Santana will be hard to miss this summer; he brings his quintet for a performance, expands it with a string ensemble, presents a Brazilian act and performs as a guest soloist with Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
