Drummer Eric Ineke, the Dutch Living Legend at 75 years old, is alive and kicking! Having shared the stage with the likes of Ben Webster, Etta Jones, Rob van den Broeck and Piet Noordijk and perhaps holding the record for most performances at North Sea Jazz Festival (30+ times!), do we need to even explain why you should come see him present his new project Frans Elsen Factor?
In collaboration with the Dutch Jazz Archive, Ineke presents Norway, recently discovered recordings of the infamous Frans Elsen Septet. The pianist wrote the music when traveling through, indeed, Norway, and crafted a surprising jazz fusion treat for someone who throughout his life was known as “the uncrowned king of Dutch bebop” (Jazzenzo).
