Daahoud Salim Quintet
The quintet of the Spanish pianist Daahoud Salim was founded in Amsterdam in 2015. Since then, the band has played at some of the most important stages and festivals in Europe, such us the Bimhuis, Festival Mas I Mas de Jamboree, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Ibiza, Rabobank Amersfoort Jazz, Getxo Jazz Festival, Silesian Jazz Festival, International Jazz Festival in Madrid, etc. In 2016 the Quintet releases its first album “La Llamada” (Blue Asteroid Records), and a second album, from its live performance during the 40th Getxo Jazz Festival. At the same edition of this festival the band is awarded the “Prize for the best band”, and “Best soloist” (Daahoud Salim). In 2017 the quintet wins the B-Jazz International Contest the “Grand Prix Albert Michiels Prize” for the best band, and the ” Sabam for Culture Prize”. The repertoire is formed by compositions by Daahoud and eventually by Daahoud’s father, Abdu Salim, a jazz saxophone player and composer from Texas, who has been a great source of inspiration for the band.
