2018 Focus on Belgium

Each year, Amerfoort Jazz selects a specific foreign country to be featured at the Amersfoort Jazz Festival in the Netherlands. In 2018 the focus is on Belgium. With Jef Neve (solo and with Spiral Control), De Beren Gieren, SCHNTZL and LABtrio (De Looze, Gyselinck and Boehme), Amersfoort Jazz contracted some of the most outstanding actual World Jazz players from Belgium, to perform at the festival in May 2018. Dutch Artist in Residence Eric Vloeimans brings Tuur Florizoone to Amersfoort Jazz 2018, a real World Jazz pioneer on accordion. Young talent is (also) involved in the concerts of Hus & The Next Generation, a special project by composer/pianist Walter Hus with his son Jacob. On Saturday evening, May 26, focus country Belgium is featured during the Belgian Focus Night in theatre De Lieve Vrouw with SCHNTZL, Jeff Neve 'Spirit Control' and De Beren Gieren. Typically Amersfoort Jazz: Bai Kamara JR, born and raised in Sierra Leone, a Belgian singer-songwriter, performing at the medieval gate of Amersfoort. This is a concert within the Amersfoort Jazz Heritage.
