AMERSFOORT WORLD JAZZ FESTIVAL 2023 – EXTRA CARE
The Amersfoort World Jazz Festival wants to be accessible to everyone. In collaboration with HandicapNL we are taking extra steps towards an accessible, inclusive festival. Extra services and facilities for people with a disability, such as medical support, a toilet unit and low-stimulus space, will be available on Friday 18 August, Saturday 19 August and Sunday 20 August around the program at the Lieve Vrouwekerkhof. These are available to all visitors.
For whom?
Extra Care Tickets can be purchased for the following concerts.
- Friday 18 August | 20:00 – 23:00 | Typhoon
- Saturday 19 August | 16:30 – 18:00 | Jeff Neve | That Old Feeling
- Saturday 19 August | 20:00 – 23:00 | Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw & Edison Nominees
- All other concerts on these days at the Lieve Vrouwekerkhof are free. Click here for the lineup.
These tickets are exclusively for people with a permanent mental and/or physical disability plus a companion/friend/family member. The facilities and services are not available to people with walking difficulties (for example due to a broken bone, recovery from surgery or for any other reason).
What does the extra care offer entail?
With Extra Care you get a seat at the front of the concert together with your accompanist/partner. In addition, you can make use of medical support, both requested in advance and when you need it unexpectedly during the festival. In addition to the regular toilet facilities on the square and in the catering industry, Theater De Lieve Vrouw has an extra accessible toilet unit.
Need specific care and/or facilities? No problem! Send an email to festivals@handicap.nl and you can indicate which care you need and we can take this into account (if possible).
During these three days, volunteers from HandicapNL will be present. They are ready to answer your questions and provide guidance where and when you need it. In addition, we have a professional care team ready to provide nursing assistance. Together we create a carefree and unforgettable experience!
Accessibility
The festival is partly organized in the historic city center of Amersfoort. People in wheelchairs encounter the usual limitations of the inner city here, such as irregular sidewalks and unevenness in the road surface. Furthermore, the performances are very accessible.
Accessibility
With a disabled parking card you can park in Amersfoort in all parking spaces with the exception of the parking garages. Also on parking spaces in the permit areas, without payment, at parking meters and parking machines. In various places in Amersfoort, parking spaces are reserved for people with a physical disability. Here you can see where these are located. Q-park St. Jorisplein has five parking spaces for disabled people. The Stadhuisplein garage is not accessible to wheelchair users.
Any questions? Mail to festivals@handicap.nl. We aim to answer emails within a few days.
