Each year, Amersfoort Jazz presents special items and co-productions, in collaboration with partners from the national and international World Jazz network. This varies from a national and an international Artist in Residence, performing at the festival in several unique line-ups, to XS and XL projects initiated by Amersfoort Jazz.

Last year, one of those acts was Accents in World Jazz from the Balearic Islands & Catalunia, a collaborative project established by Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (Mallorca), Institut Ramon Llull (Barcelona) and Amersfoort Jazz.  This project featured Spanish saxophonist Irene Reig.

Also, other (international) adventurous artists were invited to perform with Dutch musicians, like (in 2019) the acclaimed American jazz diva Deborah Brown with drummer Eric Ineke, as well as with the Beets Brothers; young talented saxophonist Kika Sprangers with tlegendary fusion keyboardist Jasper van 't Hof on church organ; the Suriname based E-bassist Jason Eduwaiti with DelMontis and the Australian saxophonist Adam Simmons meeting Stormvogel and Oene van Geel; and so on.In 2020, one of these special acts is a joint adventure of young and talented saxophonists Kika Sprangers (NLD) and Irene Reig (ESP), together with drummer Sun-Mi Hong (KOR) in a brand new project 'Alto For Two'.
