In 2018, Amersfoort Jazz Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Over the last decade Amersfoort Jazz Festival has made a sustainable development: from one of the larger jazz events in the Netherlands, to a current, adventurous and dynamic international festival for World Jazz music. With its growth, the most interesting fixed values, experience and expertise from the past are included as a benchmark for the future. Since its merger with Global Village Festival in 2012, the Amersfoort Jazz Festival program has been further deepened and complemented, in line with the latest developments in the field of jazz and related world music. Yearly, Amersfoort Jazz presents exceptional and noteworthy musicians from home and abroad, performing in a wide variety of styles, often in surprising and unique combinations. In collaboration with its partners (*), Amersfoort Jazz includes international oriented jazz conferences and invites international jazz laureates to perform at the festival. The organization aims to create a dynamic spot for musical dialogue, between the artists on stage as well as with the audience.
Amersfoort’s historic city center serves as a decor for about 85 concerts on 12 stages, located within walking distance, largely free of charge. The festival venues vary from smaller auditoria to theatres and outdoor squares, suitable for 4000 spectators. In 2017 about 350 musicians from 21 countries performed for about 85.000 visitors. This year’s edition serves as a blueprint for coming years.
The 40th edition of the festival is May 24-27 2018.
